Та же тенденция с пользователями планшетников: 37% старше 45 (19% старше 55), а три квартала назад — 23% старше 45-ти (10% ещё старше).
Половая структура тоже поменялась — в III кв 2010 букридеры были по преимуществу у мужчин (54%), теперь — у женщин (61%).
Chegg is finally going digital, and is going to be steadily rolling e-textbooks on its platform with goal of offering millions of e-textbooks to students by the end of the year. Second, Chegg has partnered with a number of publishers (including four of the top five educational publishers) to offer e-textbooks to its students, such as Cengage Learning, Elsevier, F.A. Davis, Macmillan, McFarland, McGraw-Hill, Oxford University Press, Pearson Higher Education, Rowman & Littlefield, Taylor and Francis, and Wiley.

“Terrified” by Amazon’s Kindle e-reader and discounted e-book pricing, five major publishers allegedly acted together to increase e-book prices and compel Amazon to abandon its discount sales strategy. That’s the gist of a new class action antitrust lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California by the Hagens Berman litigation group.
The five book sellers named in the suit are HarperCollins, Hachette Book Group, Macmillan, Penguin Group Inc.

Klebanoff, who founded New York-based digital publisher Rosetta Books in 2001, met UK-based agents last week and addressed a meeting of about 65 agents organised by the Association of Authors Agents on Monday.
Klebanoff is looking for backlist titles where digital rights are unassigned, with a view to acquiring both world rights or US rights alone. He said Rosetta was offering a royalty more than double that on offer from large print publishers—a 50% net royalty payment for up to 2,500 copies sold and then 60% after.
Bowker [has] released their annual report on U.S. print book publishing, compiled from its Books In Print database. Based on preliminary figures from U.S. publishers,Bowker is projecting that despite the popularity of e-books, traditional U.S. print title output in 2010 increased 5%. Output of new titles and editions increased from 302,410 in 2009 to a projected 316,480 in 2010. The 5% increase comes on the heels of a 4% increase the previous year based on the final 2008-2009 figures.

This one-month surge is primarily attributed to a high level of strong post-holiday e-Book buying, or “loading,” by consumers who received e-Reader devices as gifts. Experts note that the expanded selection of e-Readers introduced for the holidays and the broader availability of titles are factors.
The Kansas State Library’s contract with OverDrive expires this December. In September 2010, the library’s director, Jo Budler, received an initial renewal proposal from OverDrive that would have raised the annual administrative fee from its current $10,800 to $25,000 in 2012, $50,000 in 2013, and $75,000 in 2014 and 2015, a 694 percent increase in just three years.
