Bowker [has] released their annual report on U.S. print book publishing, compiled from its Books In Print database. Based on preliminary figures from U.S. publishers,Bowker is projecting that despite the popularity of e-books, traditional U.S. print title output in 2010 increased 5%. Output of new titles and editions increased from 302,410 in 2009 to a projected 316,480 in 2010. The 5% increase comes on the heels of a 4% increase the previous year based on the final 2008-2009 figures.
The commotion surrounding copyright troll Righthaven’s lawsuits just keeps getting better. One of the defendants, news aggregator Buzzfeed.com, has filed a class-action counterclaim against the company on behalf of all sites sued by Righthaven, alleging Righthaven is abusing legal process, does not actually own the copyrights it is claiming, and is suing in bad faith by not sending a takedown notice first or investigating if the use might be a fair use.

Estimates of the scale of illegal digital downloads in the UK ranges between 13 per cent and 65 per cent in two studies published last year. A detailed survey of UK and international data finds that very little of it is supported by transparent research criteria. Meanwhile sales and profitability levels in most creative business sectors appear to be holding up reasonably well. We conclude that many creative businesses are experiencing turbulence from digital copyright infringement, but that at the level of the whole economy, measurable impacts are not as stark as is sometimes suggested.

It is really important to state right here AZARDI does display books/e-books, but it is not just about books. The target is controlled distribution of high-value digital content.
