This April 2012 AZARDI 11 release is a major feature release with support for ePub3 with SMIL Audio and a major interface update to bring it into alignment with AZARDI Cloud Reader. AZARDI has jumped from version 8.2 to 11 to keep it in alignment with the version of Firefox Mozilla being used internally.

Redmayne said Pottermore sold over £1 million worth of e-books, about $1.59 million at £0.63 pounds to the dollar.
In dollars, the Harry Potter e-books are priced at $7.99 each (for the first three) or $9.99 each (for the final four books in the series). Assuming an average price of $9.13, that means around 164,000 copies were sold in the first three days.

Large book publishers’ most recent earnings reports reflect a new normal: Revenues are roughly flat, but profits are up — in large part due to e-books.
In the 2011 Bertelsmann annual report released this week, Random House said it has nearly 40,000 titles available as e-books worldwide, and while revenues were down for the year, “operating EBIT was higher year on year, especially in the United States. This rise was helped by continued cost-cutting measures and lower return rates in North America and the United Kingdom due to increased e-book sales.
Canadian-based e-book seller Kobo is following in Amazon’s footsteps and creating a publishing arm that will deal directly with authors, CBC News has learned.
Kobo, whose major shareholder is Indigo Books, will roll out its program sometime next year, according to CEO Michael Serbinis.
Like Amazon, which announced two weeks ago that it would be publishing 122 original titles this fall, Kobo will be offering complete publishing services for authors, including book editing and design.

Pro-books опубликовал годовой отчет ФАПСМИ. «Пике» — может, слишком, эмоциональная оценка, но деваться некуда. Средние тиражи, как ваш скромный слуга и предсказывал прошлым летом, и правда упали ниже 5000. Правда, ошибся на 3,5% — думал, что средний тираж будет не 4983, а меньше — 4815. А вот с долей тиражей менее 1000 экз. ошибся в другую сторону — их оказалось 55% названий, а не 51%, а как мне казалось.
Сергей Анурьев, генеральный директор компании «ЛитРес», оценил объем рынка электронных книг в России по итогам 2011 года в 135 млн рублей. При этом его ежегодный рост за последние три года составлял в среднем 122%.

Странно. Оценка объема рынка в $4,5 млн… Ну, может быть. Но непонятны 122%. Собственно, вот эта удивительная точность оценки роста при полном отсутствии мало-мальски точных данных о рынке. Если бы ЛитРес был единственным продавцом — тогда да, а так — непонятно.
