Although I’m as excited as the next guy by the coming Apple Tablet, I really don’t think it will change the world for ebooks. It’s too big, too heavy, too expensive, and likely to be too consumptive of battery power to be a better ereader for most people than a Kindle, a Sony Reader, an iPhone, or one of the many other devices announced last week at CES. My own hunch is that the Tablet won’t be as powerful a catalyst for ebooks as the Kindle was or the iPhone has been.
Amazon’s old system will remain in place for those who don’t want to participate in the new arrangement, but the carrot to upgrade is pretty attractive—a typical $8.99 book would pay an author $3.15 under the “standard” system, while an author or publisher would get $6.25 under the new 70 percent scheme.
The catch, however, is that authors or publishers must list their books for between $2.99 and $9.99 on the Kindle.

KATS plans to suggest guidelines to minimize confusions in the industry although it takes e Pub, international standard as local standard. ePub is international standard for e book and used by Sony and i River. It can support the other document standards such as txt, pdf and doc.
Amazon.com this morning announced that it is expanding its self-service Kindle Digital Text Platform worldwide, giving more authors and publishers the chance to upload and sell books in English, German and French to customers around the world in the Kindle Store.
Until today, DTP was only available to authors and publishers based in the United States. Amazon says additional language options with DTP will be added in the coming months.
