Kevin’s keynote discussed “What’s Next” in his view and he offered 6 trends (verbs), screening, interacting, sharing, accessing, flowing, generating.
Screening – screens everywhere, we are moving from people of the book, where author/authority go hand in hand, to people of the screen. We are surrounded by screens, screens are becoming cheap enough to put anywhere.

Там ещё много смешных мифов, штампов и даже откровенного вранья.
(В скобочках замечу, что в декабре “Итоги” предложили написать колонку обо всех этих делах. Написал. Колонку, впрочем, не напечатали. Как с печалью объяснил мне мой добрый друг, “не совпадает с политикой издания”.)
I’ve read all the sub-specs of EPUB3, and my general feeling about them is one of… “meh”. That’s the best way I can describe it. “meh” leaning towards “not good”.

Автор, между прочим, должен знать, о чём пишет. Поскольку он является разработчиком Sigil, практически единственного более-менее работоспособного редактора EPUB. Хорошая идея — сделать верстку электронной книги на базе WordPress. Заливаешь текст, тасуешь содержание, заполняешь издательскую карточку, и экспортируешь в электронную книгу (пока есть EPUB и какой-то странный PDF). Возможно, это даже работающий вариант для стран, где Latin-1. Для кириллицы вариант нерабочий — названия глав обрабатываются неправильно, хотя текст и выживает.

EPUB 3 is the newest revision of the EPUB standard. EPUB 3 is being developed pursuant to a charter approved by the IDPF Membership in May, 2010. On February 15, 2011, the IDPF published the first Public Draft of the EPUB 3 specifications.
